Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately, we do not have funding available to support individual session proposals. We encourage participants to propose sessions with minimal resource requirements. If your session requires travel or other expenses, please note that these will need to be handled independently. Limited travel support may be available and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

We have very limited resources for travel support. If your session proposal involves the travel of hosts or participants, please include this information in your submission. Requests for travel support will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We encourage applicants to consider local participants or explore online/hybrid session formats to minimise travel costs.

We welcome proposals from journalists, media professionals, educators, students, researchers, and anyone passionate about media and journalism. We especially encourage women, and underrepresented voices in the media community to apply. Whether you're a seasoned professional or an emerging voice, your ideas are valuable.

You can propose a variety of session formats, including workshops, panels, discussions, or hands-on activities. We are looking for sessions that are interactive, innovative, and provide practical takeaways for participants.

●    Traditional and Digital Media EconomyHowever, we also welcome proposals that explore other critical issues related to journalism and media, even if they don’t fit directly within the listed sub-themes.

The deadline for session proposals is 30 October 2024    . Make sure to submit your application before this date to be considered for Sahafi Summit 2024.

All session proposals are reviewed by the Sahafi Summit Steering Committee. Selected proposals will be announced by 10 November 2024. Selection will be based on the relevance to the summit's theme, the potential impact of the session, and the overall quality of the proposal.

In some cases, the Sahafi Summit Steering Committee may recommend changes to ensure alignment with other themes on the agenda or to enhance the inclusivity of the session.

Due to the high volume of submissions, we may not be able to provide detailed feedback for each proposal. However, we encourage you to apply again in future events.
