Call for Sessions: Sahafi Summit 2024

Are you passionate about shaping the future of journalism in Pakistan? Do you have ideas, insights, or innovative practices you want to share with the country’s media community?

This is your opportunity to lead the conversation!

Sahafi Summit 2024 is now accepting proposals for breakout sessions that will explore the pressing issues and opportunities within Pakistan’s media landscape. The Summit, scheduled for November 21-23, 2024, in Lahore, is the premier platform where journalists, editors, media educators, and students come together to discuss and address the challenges and future of journalism.

This year’s theme is “Youth Leadership for a Resilient Media Ecosystem”, with a focus on empowering young journalists and media practitioners to drive positive change. We invite you to submit your ideas for interactive and engaging sessions that resonate with this theme and explore following key areas:

  • Media and Digital Freedoms: Understanding the vital role that freedoms play in safeguarding a free press and ensuring access to information.
  • Erosion of the Information Ecosystem: Examining the impact of disinformation and hate speech on public trust and the credibility of journalism.
  • Traditional and Digital Media Economy: Exploring how digital platforms affect media sustainability and potential new revenue models.

What we’re looking for:

We’re particularly interested in sessions that are:

Interactive and Engaging: We encourage workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities that

allow participants to actively engage with the content.

Innovative and Forward-Thinking: Propose ideas that challenge conventional thinking and offer new solutions or perspectives on the challenges facing journalism today.

Practical and Impactful: Sessions that equip participants with practical tools, skills, or strategies they can immediately apply to their work.

Sahafi Summit is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring balanced gender representation in all sessions. As a mandatory requirement, when pitching a session, please ensure that careful consideration has been given to achieving gender balance among the suggested speakers.

Have an idea that doesn’t fit the sub-themes?
